Good morning and Happy St. Patricks Day. Although I'm not Irish, I do belong to St. Patricks parish. That counts for somethin', right? It's also Claire's 15 1/2 birthday, but no, she's not getting the keys to my Jetta.
Got the girls dropped off at their schools. In honor of St. Patricks Day, I stopped by Cafe on the Oval and ordered an Irish Eggs Benedict before heading down to the office. I listened to yesterday's readings and homily for the first half of the drive and called my dad to see how mom is doing the rest of the drive in. Unbelievably I left my laptop at home. Today I'll just be working from the desktop PC.
Since I forgot my laptop, I've been using the new Outlook Web App. With it's recent AJAX'y update, it could be a complete Outlook replacement. Drag 'n drop, pop up menus, etc. The more I see things like this, the more I think about half of mobile phone apps could be replaced with an up-to-date browser and a good use of HTML5+CSS+Javascript.
I've been using Plume, formerly called Touiteur, as a Twitter client almost since I got my Android phone. I'm going to give Twitter's native Android client a whirl today. It's had several updates recently and I can see how far it's caught up. Admittedly I do have misgivings about Twitter undercutting the third party app developers that they had spent years cultivating. First you spend years with a message that you're just the plumbing/infrastructure and leave the user experience to the third party developers. Then later make your own free apps that cuts them off at the knees.
Went to the cafeteria across the street to bring back a lunch. If we New Englanders seem a bit more upbeat lately, perhaps this could be part of the reason. Sunshine, mid-50's, little wind, melting snow...
Left the office and listened to TNT #200 on the drive north. Went straight to Golds for the Thursday muscle mix class. Now to grab a bite and get the boys to bed.
