The New YMCA

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

We're all back from the “1st Communion Reunion” Mass and lunch. Because of last minute crises, Claire and Abby were altar servers and I was a lector. 12:46am

Had a fun afternoon swimming at the Nashua YMCA's new facility. We all loved their new pool, especially the water slide. At the end the boys were fascinated by the little machine that spins your swim suit at high speed to wring the water out. 3:57pm

Since we were already in Nashua, we continued east to the Rockingham Park Mall. It's about 35 minutes east of the Y. When we got there we had dinner at the food court and shopped for an hour or so afterwards. The boys were surprised that this mall has no pet store, but we enjoyed the toy store, the book store, and the Apple store. 5:14pm

After 55+ minutes of driving from Rockingham Park, we're all back home. I reminded the kids that if they thought it was a long drive, my work commute is like that each way. After we settled in, I surfed over to one of the main Doctor Who fan sites to see what they were saying about the new episode that just aired in the UK. From what I gather, it'll be interesting to watch it tomorrow... Quite the cliff hanger. 8:25pm

While we were at the mall, Timothy's favorite stop was the Apple Store. It was the first Apple Store in New Hampshire, built before he was born. While he and I checked out lots of things, we both leaned towards the MacBookAir. So sleek. Like an iPad for those of us who really like having a keyboard... 8:29pm

Did You Know Microsoft Makes Five Times More Money From Android than From Windows Phone? And the irony is that these phone manufacturers gladly pay these royalties to get protection/indemnification from Apple IP lawsuits. 9:08pm

After getting the boys tucked in bed with their prayers, I watched a 2007 dramatization of 'Mansfield Park' with the girls. I was hoping that since it had Billie Piper, who had just finished two seasons of being Doctor Who's beloved companion Rose Tyler, it might be a good movie. Sadly, it was one of the poorer renditions of a Jane Austen classic. Perhaps it's because the whole novel is crammed into less than 90 minutes, it becomes too disconnected and uneven in its pacing. Good night all! 10:29pm
