Good morning! I slept like a rock last night, from 8 til ~5am'ish. I'm a spoiled husband this morning as Michelle brought me oatmeal, toast, yogurt, coffee, and orange juice in bed. A heat wave from the midwest is trying to work its way into New England, but still only upper 80's today. Michelle is teaching her 20/20/20 class at Golds this morning and is thinking of taking the kids to Canobie Lake Park afterwards. I'll be working from home today, VPN'd into the office. I'll probably swing by KARS this morning to get an estimate on repairing the bumper scrape.
Via lifehacker: “Our pick for the best video player for the Mac? VLC, of course!” (related link) It's certainly our main video application, trouncing Microsoft's Windows Media Player and Apple's Quicktime.
Do I pre-order Mario Party 9 for the Wii? We have nearly every version made in this decade, but they're always fun, either between the siblings or when they have friends come over.
You know what I like about this tablet even though it uses our competitor's app processor?? It includes a bunch of STANDARD ports. You don't need to later spend a bunch of cash to get special adaptors. Standard USB and micro USB. Standard HDMI output. Standard microSD card reader slot. Hook it up to your TV. Take images from your digital camera. Plug in a keyboard, mouse, or game controller. No fuss, no muss. In our world of making things slimmer and lighter, we've forgotten what people want to do with these things.
One of the lesser known things about the upcoming OSX Lion: Safari will finally sandbox browser tabs into their own processes (ala Chrome and others). Therefore one flakey site/tab shouldn't bring down your whole Safari browser session. (related link)

Michelle is taking the Jetta over to our body repair place to get an estimate on repairing Sunday's scrape. And (horror!) there's a rumor that the town pool might be closed for a week! She's checking into that too. If true, you couldn't pick a worse week.
Updated news. The town pool is NOT closed. And the Jetta repair will be about $650. I'm thankful the scrape did not hit metal on the rear side.
Michelle caught this story on the evening news: Boston hospitals climb list of best in the US. Massachusetts General, where Michelle went for her second opinion, ranked #2 in the US.
Finally wrapping up for the day. Some intense debugging, occasionally distracted by Timothy who wanted to 'talk tech'. Several times I had to lovingly tell him that "I need to get back to work now buddy".
Breathing a bit easier. Tomorrow's oncology visit will primarily be consultative. No chemotherapy is anticipated tomorrow. It's time to start planning for the surgery to remove the malignancy now. We also need to weigh the option of preemptively removing the other breast to further reduce the odds of recurrence. One of the ugly things about medicine is when there is no definitive right way.
How to Ditch Netflix and Still Watch [Almost] Everything You Want. For those who are still stinging from Netflix's price increase... Although I'm not sure the alternatives suggested would do much to lower how much you spend per month.
