First Day of School

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Yawn! Good morning! Today is the first day of school for Abby and the boys. This year Abby and the twins are in the highest grades for their respective schools: Milford Middle School and Milford Elementary. They "rule the school". Michelle is the first one up today because she has to see her surgeon this morning at 8 o'clock for a followup exam. 5:41am

OK, the kids are all in school, 'cept for Claire who is reveling in having today off apart from her sibs. Michelle called a while ago, panicked because Route 101 was not moving. I convinced her to pull over, call the hospital and discuss it. With a heads up notice of the delay, she re-routed to Rt 122 south and came in via a longer but moving way. She just called and said that they were very happy with how things healed and removed all the stitches. She's on her way back home. 9:08am

Michelle and Claire are enjoying a mother-daughter day in Nashua. I'm having lunch at Cafe on the Oval. 12:22am

Got to talk to Sister Marcelle just before leaving the restaurant. She was unaware that Michelle had a malignancy recurrence and just had an operation to have it removed. Stopped by DFE on the way back for an iced caramel coffee. In between slinging some new low level driver'ish code, I'm going to install Linux Mint XFCE in a Virtual Box session. If you like kicking the tires on different computing environments, VirtualBox (or VMWare) are borderline addictive. You can try out different setups and when you're done you just delete them. It's like window shopping for geeks. 1:37pm

Michelle and Claire had a good time shopping for cross country training shoes in downtown Nashua. They went to lunch at Martha's Exchange. At 4 o'clock all the kids were back from school and it sounds like their first day went okay. At 5:15 I dropped Claire off at piano lessons and went to the Step and Abs class at Golds Gym. Now I'm refreshing my memory on how to do the installation of ArchLinux, which is not as easy as the more popular distributions. Claire and Abby are out at Youth Group. 7:53pm
