Thumbnail of Daniel's 1st Altar ServingGood morning. We just finished Mass at St. Patrick's. Daniel was an altar server for the first time with Claire as his guide. Now we're at DFE having breakfast. 8:13am

Doing the last bits o' backups on my MacBook before it gets its Mac OSX Aslan upgrade. Will probably catch up on some reading while the install happens... 9:37am

One side effect of the laptop upgrade: I have to install the latest MacOS developer tools, aka XCode. Most folks don't install these but I need 'em for the work I do on my MacBook. 3 gigabyte download. Ow-oo-gah! 1:29pm

“Witnessing the Republicans and the Democrats bicker over the U.S. debt is like watching two drunks argue over a bar bill on the Titanic.” from a Kentucky statesman 4:33pm

I think I'm finally done with the tweaks to my laptop. The biggest issue is that my software to maintain the site is quite old. It's Movable Type from 2004. It does everything I want and I really don't like the new versions that the provider put out over the years. It was the last version that was focused on pure static web rendering. I had to do some small patches and updates here and there to adapt to changes the new MacOS imposed. I have some bookmarks regarding other open source software that generate static sites. I may have to revisit them... 4:40pm

At St. Patrick's as Claire finishes up her first Confirmation II class of the new year. 7:33pm

Fun: Oh noze! I has broke The Google! (joke link) (not sure if this works outside of using the Chrome browser…)8:31pm

Been helping Claire in optimization problems of Algebra II. Also discovered that Wolfram Alpha makes solving these pretty easy. 8:35pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Going to give the site building software one last test as I update tonight's site. For my laptop today's MacOS update caused more breakages than anything I've done in the past. Admittedly my experience may be less common because I do more than use the top 95% common applications. But ugh! Good night all! 9:38pm
