Good morning! We're back from breakfast at DFE. Claire took us safely there and back. Now Michelle and Claire are running to the other side of town for some issue they were having with Walgreens.
Frank Kaiser: In Praise of Older Women
It was a pretty lazy day today. Michelle and the girls were often tucked away doing Christmas wrapping. We watched Christmas Carol and Snowglobe. I also got caught up on the ABC series of Once Upon A Time and am really enjoying it.
Dropped Claire and her friends off at Confirmation class. Now I know why the stove has barely kept the house warm. It was only 18°F outside. When I got back I fired up the second stove to help warm things up.
Timothy and I also did a fair amount of tinkering today. I explored some Linux window managers, something I hadn't done since my USAF days in the early 90's. If I thought there were a lot then, it's even more so now. Window managers and desktop environments are what give you the "look and feel" in Linux. It describes how windows get decorated with title and scroll bars, popup menus, etc. Unlike Windows and MacOS, there are dozens of popular such managers in Linux from extreme nerdy and hardcore to full featured and full of eye candy environments.
Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. We're down to just 12°F now. Brr! Looked over the “controversy” as to whether the claim that the ‘12 Days of Christmas’ song was or was not a covert way to teach fundamentals of the Catholic faith during the time of Catholic oppression in England. I don't think it really matters much, but if you hear about this claim, don't take it as certified fact.
