Sorry about the lack of updates. I've had so much on my mind, writing about the details hasn't been a priority. Michelle and I have driven down to Massachusetts General Hospital three days in a row. As I wrote Monday, we consulted with Dr. Rao and decided to go on the clinical trial for a promising targeted medicine for triple negative breast cancer tumors.
Our first day at MA General was Thursday where we met with the local study coordinating oncologist, discuss the protocol one more time, and sign the consent forms. Afterward we had a few simple tests: document the basics, draw blood for analysis, and do an EKG. We came back for a longer day on Friday for a detailed eye exam, a CT scan, a bone scan, and a better blood pressure check. Lastly on Saturday we took the whole family down with us as Michelle had to do an echo cardiogram. That doesn't take long and so I took the kids for bagels and a trip to Frog Pond while Michelle was in the hospital. Once she got out all of us walked to Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Both trips were great ways for the kids to kick off their spring break. After we drove back home we went to 4pm Mass at St. Patricks where a bunch of kids were making their 1st Communion.
This morning was a bit lazy since we already went to Mass. We all slept in because our Saturday Boston excursion required us all to leave the house by quarter to seven. Claire rode her bike to work while the rest of us went to DFE for breakfast. When we got home I spent a little time working on another photo album from our Florida trip. Many of the photos are a touch blurry or hazy because they come from Abby's cameraphone. Still Abby took a lot of photos and I wanted to try to resuscitate what I could from that.
