Much Needed Rain

Posted by Scott at 10:12 PM

Good morning! It's the end of the three day weekend. It looks like the rain that went through last night passed to our north. Still I sealed up the house yesterday and ran the heater/AC blower all day so it could filter the pollen. It helped a lot and I was able to sleep last night. But it meant I stayed inside on such a nice holiday. 5:26am

Michelle has a brief meeting with the anesthesiologist today to prepare for re-insertion of her "power port" portacath. She also plans on taking a class at Golds Gym this morning. The kids are a bit sad that there's still three weeks of school left, although this is only a four day week. 5:30am

Feeling a bit sad this morning. It was April 1st last year that Michelle's portacath was removed. And it'll be June 1st that we're putting it back in. No intravenous chemo is scheduled at this time, but they've been poking her arm enough this past month (and probably in the months ahead) that it'll get used. We'd rather her arm not look like a drug addict. Still it feels like admitting a minor defeat. 6:12am

Got the girls dropped off at their schools. Prayed the Glorious Mysteries for Michelle's health and her health care workers. Then listened to an interview with Dale Ahlquist of the American Chesteron Society the rest of the commute. Yes, I'm a Chesterton fanboy. 9:20am

Left work a bit later than I'd like. After lunch I got my replacement laptop. This evening our IT administrator and I had been struggling (without success) to get VOIP working on my replacement laptop again. Maybe we'll get it working on Thursday. On the commute I had a brief call with my dad to congratulate him on good medical test results. The various "just checking" tests came back negative. And yes, I'm glad that the rain held off until well after I got back to the house. 7:13pm

Yay! It is raining, good 'n solid. Lightning and thunderclaps. Wash that heavy pollen out of the air and off of our streets, sidewalks, and driveways! We'll gladly shut down the houses' computers for a while. 7:53pm

I did some more work trying to get my new work laptop setup. Configured it for the home router and confirmed that I can make secure VPN connections to the office's network. That's the only thing I hate about a new work machine: getting everything set back up again takes at least half a day or more... I've got things to do! New crises! 8:30pm

Got the boys all tucked in bed with their prayers. Was just about to relax when Claire called to pick her up. Man! I almost forgot we were one child short! Drove in the rain, still ongoing, to bring her back home from Subway. 9:55pm

The few times I've been outside tonight, the air just seems so, so much better. It's cooler, doesn't taste dusty and full of pollen. Very thankful that it's helping. I'll be interested to see tomorrow's pollen numbers. Good night all! 10:12pm

“Amen, I say to you,
there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters
or mother or father or children or lands
for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel
who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age”
Mark 10
