Good morning! Today is Claire's first day of school. It was also the first time I've had Claire, Abby, Michael, and Daniel all in the car with me for morning school drop off.
Michelle took Timothy to school and is about to take the Thursday morning Step class at Golds. Ordinarily she wouldn't since she just taught yesterday, but with the upcoming holiday weekend, she wanted to squeeze in one more workout. She won't be teaching on Monday.
I had a nice drive down to Boxborough listening to Fr. Leo on his recent talk with Catholic Answers. It's another mild morning with hardly a cloud in the sky. It's such a contrast with the Gulf States' weather.
Someone I know casually through social media has a cat named “SpeedBump”. Best name ever! Not that my wife or daughters would allow it... While I know it sounds like a cat you run over with a car, he said it had more to do with how the cat always gets under your feet.
In 2008 Obama gave speeches in front of Greek columns. In 2012 Obama gives us a Greek economy.
As seen in Some Wisdom for a Seven Year Old [Girl]:
“I am going to tell you this with absolute confidence that my wisdom will fall on deaf ears: boys are, in every estimable capacity, the most useless creatures on earth… until they make up their minds to be otherwise. If there was any way to get you to avoid inexhaustible abyss of stupid that is boys, I’d sign you up. I’m afraid, however, that they’re one of the unfortunate realities of life.
The good news: there will come a time when you are emotionally prepared to make a choice between expending your energy on boys – who are solely focused on themselves, the temporary, the flashy and nothing that matters – and a boy-turned-man who has accepted the greatest purpose in life, to lay himself down for another and, only in so doing, is capable of love. It’s going to be a bumpy ride between now and then. Just know that mom and I are on the journey with you, and praying for you every step of the way.”
“The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.” —Rosie Hardy
Please DNC: have Bill Clinton speak on the "war on women" next week. It would fill my yearly quota of irony.
Wrapped up work around 6 o'clock. What a chaotic day, but I got a lot done. Listened to more of St. Augustine on the drive home. Claire went straight from school to work this afternoon. I hope she doesn't get behind on homework.
Fell asleep laying on the couch waiting for Claire's call. Was in a daze when the phone did ring and woke me back up. I am so turning into my father. Upon picking her up, I was glad to hear her first day of school went well, but she does have a touch of a cold. Good night all! I hope I can sleep tonight, as Michelle and I are both anxious about visiting her oncologist tomorrow morning.
“Be sure of this:
if the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared” — Matthew 24
