Red Blood Cell Counts

Via the_webhamster: “The 6 Stages of Debugging: (1) That can't happen. (2) That shouldn't happen. (3) Hmmm, weird. (4) Why does that happen? (5) Oh, I see. (6) How did that ever work?” Man! That hits too close to home. 8:46am

Good morning! It's a rainy, dreary one here in New England. I dropped the older four off at their schools and listened to Fr. Mitch Pacwa via podcast on the drive down. Also called my dad who drove like a road warrior yesterday. He didn't stop until 10pm last night, logging 740 miles. Insane! So no, he didn't stop in Youngstown as he said he would. 8:53am

Later this morning Michelle has a visit at oncology for another blood test to see whether things are recovering and she can resume her regimen soon. 8:55am

«Eye roll» “Homework favors the wealthy” (related news story) So sure, let's just ban it. You French. You're so ahead of the curve. 9:10am

Got a call from Michelle that so far their seems to be nothing out of the ordinary at root cause for the drop in red blood cells aside from the chemo. Most significantly there's no internal bleeding. They took another blood sample today to see whether this week off has helped her recover. Also got a text that my dad is safely back home in Pure Michigan. 12:30pm

Yet another example of our government picking losers and losers: Another Day, Another Taxpayer-Funded Battery Disaster. LG Chem, a $300 million lithium-ion battery plant heavily funded by taxpayers, has its workers sitting around with nothing to do. 12:40pm

Chromebook This weekend I may check out the new ARM generation of Google Chromebooks. A svelte design reminiscent of a MacBookAir, lightweight, 6+ hours of battery life for those whose primary computer work is web oriented. No viruses. Software always up to date. Cost: $249. 1:41pm

Listening to Greg Willits last broadcast on Sirius/XM 129. It's a bit sad for me because it was on his one year anniversary on Sirius/XM that I signed up for the satellite service. At that point I figured it wasn't a passing thing for the corporation. Still I'm eager to see him and his wife get back into their forte: entertaining podcasting. 1:45pm

Attended final conference call of the day. Wrote up my weekly status report. Submitted my hours. Time to log out, head north, and enjoy a weekend with the family. I'm hoping to hear that Michelle's blood tests this afternoon are showing improvement in her red blood cell count. 5:33pm

Left work a little before six. It was a dark, dreary drive with heavy rain the whole way. I listened to a bit of EWTN until the 3G signal failed then listened to an audiobook the rest of the way. I've learned that Michelle's counts are in the normal range, but they will again bump up her dosage when she resumes on Sunday. Claire is out mall shopping with a good friend. Abby has two girlfriends over, one of whom will sleepover. I predict some serious giggling into the night… I hope Claire gets enough sleep as PSATs are tomorrow morning. 7:07pm

“Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins?
Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God.
Even the hairs of your head have all been counted.
Do not be afraid.
You are worth more than many sparrows.”
Luke 12
