Good morning! I dropped the older four off at their schools. It's kind of funny how full the Jetta's trunk gets. It had my computer bag, my gym bag, backpacks for all four kids, and cases for musical instruments. And yet Michelle uses the minivan to take just Timothy to school.
I stopped by Cafe on the Oval for a sausage benedict breakfast. On the way down I caught up on news with my father. I did an experiment and let my phone use Verizon's network. Yes, it also dropped the call once along the route but in a different area than Sprint does. I guess I don't feel so second class about using Sprint, at least for voice... I won't claim Sprint's 4G LTE is anywhere near as complete as Verizon.
Via Pax Dickinson (parodying President Obama): “Waterboarding is cruel, so I support using drones to butcher suspected terrorists along with nearby bystanders who probably deserve it too.”
Beautiful autumn weather outside sunny and 60°F as I walked over to the cafeteria for a wrap. Michelle told me that she accidentally took a Zumba class this morning because of changes in the gym's schedule and that she had a good time. The husband in me wishes I could have seen her. «ahem!» Let's just say there's a lot of hip action in Zumba…
“We have these things called aircraft carriers where planes land on them. We have these ships that go under water, nuclear submarines.” Yes, that's the condescending tone of our great Unifier-in-Chief.
I know it's almost a stereotype how quickly Apple makes you feel "obsolete" but I kinda feel for iPad3 owners. Seven months after the release of the iPad3 they announce the full size iPad4 in addition to the smaller, much anticipated iPad mini (shown at right), aimed to stem the competition from the Amazon Kindle and the Google Nexus 7.
At the recommendation of The Anchoress I ordered a copy of The Knox Bible. Usually I stick with the NAB or the RSV for study purposes, but thought it might be nice for something more prosaic.
At a recommendation from Steve Gibson I just ordered Euclid's Wall for my tablet. Thanks Steve! Signed, a major "Security Now" podcast fan.
I left work a bit early and head north listening to a talk on Fatima and The Miracle of the Sun whose 95th anniversary was last week. I went straight to the Merrimack YMCA for the Step and Abs class.
I drove home from the Y, offering up a set of the Sorrowful Mysteries for the intention that Michelle's medicine be well tolerated at the new higher dosage. When I got home most of the kids were reading or doing their homework. Michelle had one of her fresh veggie drinks for me and reheated some of her home made chili.
Yay! Whatever glitch was going on with my ability to write files to my remote web server was resolved by the IT managers. In many happy years of using FastMail, this was the first time I had to open a support ticket.
