Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 08:21 PM

Good morning! Woke up to the sound of a snow plow. Where were they the past couple of days?! We had snow and high winds all weekend. Now that we're back to work and school, the forecast is storm free for the next five days. Grr! 5:36am

Darn! The WiFi at the D-H orthopedic clinic is down. So much for trying to work while we wait... 11:30am

Wow! That new Burj Dubai tower is nearly twice the height of Chicago's Sears Tower (800m vs 442m). If the middle east ever makes its version of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" we know where the protagonist will have to visit. ;-). 4:24pm

Wow! Atlanta GA is at 30F while Manchester NH is 29F. 6:33pm

Mea culpa! I got far enough behind with my trip to Dartmouth-Hitchcock that I blew off the gym tonight to help catch up on work. 7:01pm

I'm glad the chaos of this day is over. Pretty tiring for a first work day of the year. Computer systems down, tool issues, headlight blown, unplanned trip to Nashua, lack of Wifi in Nashua clinic, etc. Good night all! 8:20pm

Bookmarks I made today:

Earthquake rattled Milford area Saturday morning
Comment: The Union Leader reports on that small quake I mentioned feeling on Saturday.
Excerpt: The small quake at 10:14 a.m. was a magnitude 1.6, according to U.S. Geological Survey. There were no reports of injuries.

What is a Browser?
Comment: I had no idea that there was this much confusion between an internet service provider, a web browser, and a search engine. For the record: for me it's Comcast, Chrome, and Bing.
Excerpt: What is a browser? was the question we asked over 50 passersby of different ages and backgrounds in the Times Square in New York. Watch the many responses people came up with.

Intel Forced to Remove "Cripple AMD" Function from Compiler?
Comment: Yet another win for AMD as it struggles to compete with Intel.
Excerpt: Intel's compiler deliberately and knowingly cripples performance for non-Intel (AMD/VIA) processors.
