Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 09:38 PM

Good morning! It's a "take the girls to school and head down to the office" day. At least it's already 20°F. That's warmer than it was much of the weekend. 6:27am

Had a smooth drive home, listening to This Week in Tech #233. (related link) The furnace has been running today because the ignitor on our primary wood stove failed this morning. Michelle picked up a replacement after teaching her fitness class today. Do I really feel like pulling the stove out tonight after dinner? sigh. 6:06pm

Phew! I repaired the wood stove. I was so happy when I saw it light up on its own again with its newly replaced ignitor module. What a pain in the backside it was to replace! Soon it'll be time to get the boys down to bed. 7:47pm

Feeling a bit tired from the commutes today, but excited for tomorrow's. Our graphics team is going on a boondoggle outing to (related link) . I've heard about it for over a decade and it sounds like soo much fun! 8:06pm

Watched season 1, episode 10 of "Chuck" [Chuck vs the Nemesis] with the girls before calling it a night. Good night all! 9:37pm

Comment: Smooth, sunny drive down to Concord, MA. On the way down I offered a Rosary for the health of my mom, my wife, and my oldest. Afterwards listened to FatherJay Finelli's latest iPadre podcast that he posted late last night. If you don't use a podcasting downloading program, you can listen here.

Adobe lashes out against iPad's Flash snub
Comment: I don't know what Steve Jobs means. Our smart phone chips have 2D and video accelerator hardware that makes Flash plenty fast. I would assume he could do that same with the apps processor on the iPhone/iPod.
Excerpt: According to Jobs, the Flash Player for laptops fits the bill, but it is designed for devices larger than the iPhone, and therefore performs too slowly on smartphones.
