Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 08:52 PM

Good morning! I dropped the girls off at school and had a nice drive (in my Jetta) driving down to the office. I offered up the Sorrowful Mysteries and listened to more of The Brothers Karamazov the rest of the way. I'm about half an hour from the end now. 8:43am

The Atlantic: Lies, Damned Lies, and Medical Science 9:25am

Love the closing paragraph here: “I am not willing to stand aside and allow this concept of expendable human lives to turn this great land of ours into just another exclusive reservation where only the perfect, the privileged and the planned have the right to live.” It was a NYTimes memorial to Dr. Mildred Jefferson, the first black woman to graduate from Harvard Medical School. If you ask Al Sharpton, she wasn't really black. If you ask N.O.W. shes wasn't really a woman. 2:43pm

Stepped outside to open up my car (the paint fumes still tend to accumulate) and give a call to Michelle. She informs me that Claire volunteered to lector at the family Masses being planned by the Confirmation prep teens. Wow! I finally gave up lectoring a few years ago, and she's going to give it a try. 2:46pm

Click to see the audiobook at AmazonInteresting: How to Turn Your iPod touch into an iPhone: 4G Edition On Verizon/Sprint, no less! Very hack'ish but it could work. 3:36pm

Smooth drive home. Listened to today's readings and homily via EWTN and then finished off "The Brothers Karamazov". At last... it is done! I need to think about what is next up. Perhaps I should peruse my "wish list". 7:00pm

Michelle and I are brainstorming on a cheesy marketing name for a new line of bras: The AmaBra! The bra for one breasted Amazon women. 7:13pm

Months ago I listened to "Wuthering Heights" while Claire was working through it for school. I decided to do this again and listen to Samuel Butler's translation of Homer's "Odyssey". 8:29pm

The girls are about to watch yesterday's "Chuck". I have one last conference call with San Diego and then I'm through for today. Good night all! 8:51pm
