Timothy Turns 9

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! Thankful it's Friday. It's Tim's 9th birthday. It's also the Feast of St. Blaise. Tonight at Tim's request Michelle and the kids will have dinner at Chipotle and go to Barnes&Noble afterward. I dropped the girls off at their schools and head down to Boxborough. I listened to TWiG #132 for part of the drive and caught up with dad the rest. 9:03am

Enjoyed the office Bagel Day bagel while triaging the overnight email. About to debug more failing tests. 9:09am

Interesting. I tried Duck Duck Go for search to see what it would show that Google's biased results don't show. Surprised to see a high link to my mom's obit when I searched on "Bilik". 9:11am

I hear it's a Snow day in the Vatican. It's the only time the Pope can take a walk outside without being noticed. Stealth Pope. (hat tip to Fr. Roderick) 10:02am

Since I'm at the office today, decided to walk over and see where my new office will be in a few more weeks. While not a window office (didn't want that), it is directly across from them. I won't be as isolated from outside weather conditions. 10:33am

Apparently there's some great intellectual gap between “Don't like abortion? Don't have one” and “Don't like Planned Parenthood? Don't fund them.” Meanwhile it's perfectly okay for the government to force Catholic institutions to pay for things they find morally objectionable. Crickets on that news media front. 11:01am

Record 1.2 Million People Fall Out Of Labor Force In One Month. Well once you remove them from the counts, is it really any wonder official unemployment statistics show improvement? If you told someone in 1997 that we'd be celebrating an 8.3% jobless rate they'd have thought you were talking about a developing country. 11:09am

Over the past 48 hours, not only did Planned Parenthood reveal itself as willing to seriously damage and attempt to destroy the pro-woman Komen foundation, but also, thousands and millions of people potentially learned for the first time that Komen doesn’t believe Planned Parenthood is an ideal provider of health care for women. “What? They don't do mammograms? They're under investigation for covering up sex trafficking? They cover up statutory rape? Serious organizations think there's a link between abortion and breast cancer? The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a division of the World Health Organization (WHO), declared the little publicized classification of combined estrogen-progestogen oral contraceptives as Group 1 carcinogenic?” 1:01pm

Adam Lambert says he's been chosen to replace Freddie Mercury as the new lead singer of the legendary rock band Queen? That's got to be a rumor taken out of context. Yes, yes it is. 3:28pm

Left work around 6 o'clock, listening to Security Now #338 on the drive home. The rest of the clan is in south Nashua for Timothy's birthday. 7:05pm

Michelle and the kids got back from dinner at Chipotle Grill and a visit to Barnes&Noble about half an hour after I got home. They brought me back some leftovers. We sang to Timothy and enjoyed some cake and ice cream. See the snapshots below. Being a Friday night the kids want to stay up late but I'm pretty wiped out. Good night all! 9:00pm

“King Herod heard about Jesus, for his fame had become widespread, […]
When Herod learned of it, he said,
‘It is John whom I beheaded. He has been raised up.’ ”
Mark 6
