Well, all the fun holidays

Posted by Scott at 12:29 PM

Well, all the fun holidays are over. For me, this means I have to go back to school. I actually am happy about that. I love it down at ISU! I still have a lot to get done here. It sounds strange, but I have to go get fingerprinted soon for my new job at the YWCA. I guess it's a DCFS requirement. I am still studying for the GRE and I feel as if I've gotten nowhere with it. I think its so unfair that anyone should have to take it. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. The frustrating part is I don't even know if I want to go to graduate school next year for sure or not. Last week I saw my old boss from the Elmwood Park day care. She said she may be moving away this summer and would like it if I could replace her as Director of the Program if she does move. What an offer!! So my options for next year are even larger, and more confusing. Consequently, I can't go back on this GRE thing. It cost $114.00. I guess I'll just do what I can, right?
As for now, I am going to keep playing with my new palm pilot. I love it and I almost have it all figured out. I just downloaded the DSM-IV-TR on it (the bible of psychology), the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of psychological disorders. I do have the book of it, but it's huge. This way I can access it anytime with out lugging that giant $60 book with me.
In an hour or so I am going to Seth's again. Though I just came home from there, I feel I should visit his family as often as he visits mine. We are only going for 2 nights this time in order to be back for Will's birthday party here on Saturday. Oh, and I also am going with all the girls to Hogs and Honeys that night. Its a bar they found that has a mechanical bull, which has no impact on me.

Hi Suzy,

Glad you had a nice vacation. Any memorable events from your week or two in Chicago? Christmas eve, New Years eve?

What are you going to do at the YWCA? We had one here in Nashua (next door to the YMCA) until it went bankrupt. Would you be doing front desk work, helping kids, teaching?

I remember being in your shoes of not knowing where to go next. I certainly felt that way when my time in the Air Force was winding down. I don't know if you were aware but there were a lot of possibilities including even more graduate studies, more military jobs, taking a job in Chicago or NH, etc.

If you have more than 2MB on your Palm Pilot, I'd recommend trying out AvantGo. When you "sync" your Palm Pilot, it can download snapshots of webpages that you can look at later when you're in a hurry up and wait situation. (I don't get those anymore...)

Have fun with Seth and wish my godson, William, a happy birthday.
