Where have the posts been?

I realize it's been a week since I've written. Things have been a bit hectic since Michelle returned home. Since then the house has been borderline quarantine with a variety of illnesses being circulated. Today most of us are feeling better except now grandma is sick. For her it started Friday afternoon and really kicked in on Saturday and continues today. I setup a TV in the guest bedroom since the illnesses make you really tired but not necessarily able to sleep very well.

I found out last week that Lori Schuler, the wife of my junior year roommate, Christian Schuler, delivered their first baby, a son, Carl Friedrich Schuler. He was also delivered by caesarian section the day after Michelle delivered Timothy. Carl was 8 pounds 6 ounces and 21 inches long. Best wishes to Christian and Lori. Welcome to our world!

My sister Alyssa spent the past couple of days (Thursday to Saturday) in the hospital due to a urinary infection. It's a bad thing to happen at any time but it's more concerning when you're in your last trimester of pregnancy. Alyssa, I hope you're feeling better now.

It seems like my dad will drive out to join my mom sometime near the end of this upcoming week. That will be perfect because Claire has off from school the following week and will be home to spend time with both grandparents. She wasn't home the last time they both visited because of school. She was a little bummed to go to school on those mornings. Understandably so.

Timothy is doing well. Once we're all better I hope to get more pictures taken. In the mean time you're still stuck with last week's photo album. His skin is more natural looking now and doesn't look as red as those early hospital pictures. Michelle said he took to nursing right away -- she says it must be a guy thing. *grin* His timid little newborn cry has now given way to a full fledged "check out my lungs" cry. His older brothers are doing well with a new baby in the house - probably because as twins they've always had their attention a bit divided between the two of them.

We had a new coffee shop called J Beaners open up just outside the east end of Milford on 101A. I checked it out last Friday morning when I ordered a hot white mocha on my way into work. Nice! Good selection of food and coffee drinks in a nice atmosphere. I only wish it had a drive-thru to make morning coffees a bit more convenient.

I took off sick from work Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday due to illness. This is after I just took off the previous week to care for the kids while Michelle was in the hospital. When I got back I was very backlogged with support tasks to catch up on. On the bright side I have tomorrow off for Presidents Day. Unfortunately Claire does have school which surprises us. Perhaps it's because of the near term week long school break.

It's not that I feel immune living in Milford but my thoughts of terrorist acts have been more concerned with the family living back in Chicago and Los Angeles. Please join me in praying for the safety of our country against possible suicidal Muslim fanatics. I also pray that our leaders do the right thing, even if I don't know what that course of action is. I understand the arguments of those who are protesting our actions towards war but at the same time I also worry about a regime that has thousands of tons of biochemical agents that are unaccounted for since the last inspection. They don't just disappear.

We ordered a carry out dinner tonight and afterwards watched the Dreamworks version of Joseph: King of Dreams. I figured the girls could contrast it with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I was also able to rent My Big Fat Greek Wedding. We look forward to seeing that tomorrow. Hopefully by then mom is feeling better.
