Mischief

Posted by Scott at 07:26 AM

Mischief - I got up early this morning to scrape the window of the stove before the boys woke up. They never touch the glass but occasionally have this temptation to touch something else to it. It almost always causes a mark on the glass as the material (typically plastic) singes on contact. Thanks again, boys!

More Mischief - In other adventures I got a call yesterday from Michelle. She said she had just pulled four CDs from the slot loader on our iMac. It wasn't even powered on, but they managed (who knows how) to jam four CDs into it. They are soooo lucky I wasn't there at the time. Even at the office it took some time to put it out of my mind. Luckily the CD drive seems to still be functioning. I don't know what CDs they used, but it's likely that they're history.

Illnesses - Timothy woke up this morning full of his usual energy. Whatever bug he had now seems to have shifted to Michael. First Daniel, then Timothy, now Michael. Please go no further! We have some warm temperatures coming this weekend. We'll probably open all the windows to let some fresh air in and do some cleaning of key surfaces like door knobs, faucet handles, game controllers, Leapsters, etc.

Snow - Yesterday we had another overnight nuisance snowstorm -- a few inches of wet snow. The girls got a break by having a two hour school delay. Evidently the snow caught many city planners off guard. Unlike most storms which come in from the west and can be predicted, this one came in from the ocean where we have fewer doppler stations to monitor storms. Snow plows didn't come down our street until I was out clearing the driveway.

Workout - In another nice change of pace, Michelle met me at the YMCA for a noontime step class while mom and dad stayed home with Timothy. For most of our marriage we always went to the gym together, but for the past couple of years she goes to morning classes while I tend to go during my lunch hour. I miss going to class together. Strange, I know, but it's a bit like a date. Once Timothy stops napping at lunch time, Michelle wants to resume taking some noon classes.

Visit - In another few weeks we'll move from winter to "is this snow still here". Yesterday we found out that in mid-April we're going to have a visit from mom, Alyssa, and her two youngest. By then most of this snow should be gone, temperatures milder, and the grass starting to green up again. If things go well, Bev might come along. Neither Bev nor Alyssa have seen our Milford house. I don't think they've been out since the twins' baptism.

Anniversary - I know my kids love to keep an eye on "half birthdays". This upcoming Ash Wednesday is our "half anniversary". 15 1/2 years.

Amazon Prime - I like using Amazon but hate that it seems whatever savings you get in price are eliminated in shipping costs, unless you're buying a large purchase or are willing to wait several days with "super saver" shipping. This week Amazon announced their new Amazon Prime membership accounts. For a fixed annual fee they'll eliminate shipping fees on all items shipped with 2nd day air. For $4 they'll overnight anything. It also eliminate the price difference between shipping as products are available and waiting until they are all available. I signed us up. Considering what a pain it is to take the kids out shopping, I'd prefer this route. I suspect that in another couple of years they'll get better at listening in stores.

Dinner - Last night Michelle, mom, dad and I went out for dinner at the Milford Pasta Loft. We have one more night planned early next week. I'm thinking perhaps Texas Roadhouse might be a nice change of pace. Hmmm … steak! Beef, it's what's for dinner!

Politics - Does it bother anyone else that as a country we're thinking of covering Viagra under the Medicare prescription drug benefit for seniors? Dad joked that perhaps it could be a net savings as more seniors die from heart attacks during vigorous ... ahem .. marital congress. I understand the desire to help with the high costs of prescription drugs to help against various serious ailments of old age (eg. preventing heart disease) but Viagra !?

Comments

I personally think that Viagra should be a controlled substance like narcotics - and I certainly do not like that it is covered under insurances that don't cover things like Nutrition consults, NFP classes, etc.
