I had a few followups to yesterday's post. Rather than put them as a comment, I thought I'd just flush them out further in yet another full post.
Michelle - While I'm sure Michelle appreciated being taken out for a nice dinner on her birthday, I think another recent event made her feel even better about turning older. A couple of evenings ago when I got home from work, she quickly ran out by herself to the local drug store to pick up some photos the girls had taken. On exiting the store, she got whistled at, loud and clear. She hadn't heard that in many years. Besides her good looks, a few obvious factors probably weighed in her favor: a) she didn't have a brood of children in tow, b) the admirer might not have noticed she was heading to a minivan, c) August lends itself to *ahem* skimpier clothing. Regardless, I'm sure it boosted her ego far more than a dinner of chicken provencale.
Web Work - So I did some tweaking to how things get rendered. I found one bottleneck and re-architected a few other things. I won't go into the details, but commenting shouldn't take as long. A reminder: if you comment twice in less than three minutes or you accidentally hit 'Post' twice, only the first will go through and you'll get a warning on the second saying it was rejected.
Van - With assistance from my supervisor, I dropped off Michelle's van at Nashua's local Honder Dealah for it's 60K service. Nothing major was reported so the bill was as estimated. They did mention it should have its timing belt changed in the near term. Suzy is familiar with that, eh Suz?. I figure next summer we'll have it changed along with the water pump (as long as they're in there). When my Accord hit 60K a year or so ago, I had the 60K, the timing belt, and the water pump all done at once. That was a major cha-ching. This time around I think we'll break it up since the Odyssey has a longer timing belt replacement schedule than the Accord had. Besides, in a few months I'm going to be thinking about a set of snow tires for my wintry commutes to Marlborough. I'll probably get a cheap set of rims to mount them on. It'll simplify seasonal changes back and forth.
Ahhh...the timing belt...how could I forget!
