Once again, I should be burying my head in the pillow, but I'm still a bit too awake. So, while I head towards fatigue, a few events in no particular order:
- This week is NH school vacation week for spring break. With all of the flooding we had, I'm happy the children didn't get last week off as in Massachusetts where it was their spring break.
- Michelle and I finally started to watch Children of Men tonight. It sat on our shelves collecting dust for a couple of weeks now. It's pathetic when I consider how long I've been waiting to see this movie. We made it about half way through and will watch the rest later in the week.
- I finished watching Pope John Paul II last weekend. About a year ago I had watched a different movie on the Pope's life. Like that one this was also three hours long. Unlike it, this one spent about half the movie portraying his challenges after becoming Pope. I had a bit of mental distraction during the first half where Cary Elwes (Wesley from the Princess Bride) plays Karol Wojtyla. Once it switched over to Jon Voight as Pope, it became more believable.
- Tomorrow the same contractors who did a lot of work on the house last fall (screens, doorway trim, crown moldings, etc) will come back to power wash the siding. They'll also power wash the wood decks and re-stain them. At mom's prompting Michelle is considering having them install some cabinets in the laundry closet.
- Performance bonuses were passed out this week in order to sync our pay schedules with the "classic" AMD side of the house. My raise, while modest overall, was quite generous considering the ATI raises were posted just a few months ago. These were pro-rated raises just to synchronize our fiscal calendars. If it was scaled to a year, it would be worth celebrating. Thank you God!
- Friday is Abigail's birthday. Four of her friends are coming over to celebrate. I'm taking the day off and will likely take them for lunch and a movie at Chunky's.
- Also Friday is when folks from Post Woodworking come to deliver and setup our shed.
- The boys seem to be passing some illness between them. This morning Timothy woke up like a zombie. Tonight Daniel went to bed super early. Here's hoping it doesn't spread much further.
- When I'm not praying or listening to podcasts during my commute, I'm listening to the audiobook version of The Politically Incorrect Guide(tm) to English and American Literature and am enjoying it so far. The narrator (who is not the author) has a bit of a snooty voice though... Does he have to sound like a literature professor?
- Last weekend I de-thatched and swept the lawn. Michelle, eager to spend time outside of the house, spread five yards of hemlock mulch. We both have tinges of pink on our arms and faces to show for it.
- Abby is getting into Super Paper Mario for the Wii. When she got stuck, I had to buy her the official guide book. Yet another way to encourage her to read, eh? *grin*
- Two funny slang terms I've heard this past month: astroturfing and greenwashing.
