Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 09:31 PM

Good morning! Local weathermen are having a hard time deciding what we're going to get tonight. We're on the outskirts. Currently they're saying 2-5 inches but if the storm starts shifting north, we could get much more. Time will tell... 6:45am

I could use some recommendations on reasonable price calculators for my girls. The current cheapies that they have do not do algebraic order of operations (ie. multiply before add) and so when they punch in an expression, it gives the wrong answers. At this point I don't want to overwhelm them with $150 über calculators. I know what we used decades ago (eg. TI-35), but what's common now? 8:22am

Went with Claire to a good Step & abs class at Golds. Picked up 3 strawberry banana smoothies on the way home. 11:07am

UPS guy came to drop off the optical drive and carrying sleeve for Michelle's netbook. The actual netbook comes next week after Christmas. Having supply/build problems Dell?? 11:23am

Took the family for lunch at the Cafe on the Oval. Now Michelle & I are doing more prep w/the twins for their 1st Confession in a month. 1:45pm

Mass tonight was packed with people like us who thought it might be easier to go tonight before the snow arrives overnight. ;-). 5:25pm

Just picked up Claire from a Christmas cookie exchange party. Sleepy and a bit glad we don't have to get up early for Mass tomorrow morning... Good night all. 9:28pm

Bookmarks I made today:

Late Pope John Paul Moves Closer to Sainthood - NYTimes
Comment: Venerable Pope John Paul II - step by step towards sainthood.
Excerpt: The late Pope John Paul moved closer to sainthood in the Catholic Church on Saturday when his successor, Pope Benedict, approved a decree recognizing that John Paul had lived the Christian faith heroically. The late pope will now have the title "venerable."

Jillian Michaels' Wii Workout 2010 - WSJ.com
Comment: Her summary: But at $40 this game didn't make my heart pound. Literally.
Excerpt: Lauren Goode straps on a heart rate monitor and tests the latest Wii game from the tough-as-nails personal trainer.

Selena Gomez & The Scene - Naturally
Comment: Watched this new bubble gum pop song music video with my girls. I think Selena is trying to compensate for her lack of dancing ability by overdoing the digital video effects. As a digital electrical engineer, I feel a bit dirty for enabling these kinds of effects. Michelle joked that she might need a boost of her anti nausea medicine after watching the video.
Excerpt: Music video by Selena Gomez & The Scene performing Naturally. (C) 2009 Hollywood Records, Inc.
