Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 11:11 PM

Good morning! Welcome to Friday! I can't believe it -- after a week of yikes temperatures, it's 32°F here in the Souhegan Valley as we start this morning and it could rise into the 40's. If I had any belief that CO₂ could cause more of this, I'd buy a Jeep tomorrow! If you haven't washed the salt off of your car yet, today is the day to do so. 6:08am

Amazon Prime continues to make me happy. I ordered a simple USB flash drive for Claire last night. Chose my usual "free second day shipping". It just arrived, 18 hours after the order was placed. Kudos also to UPS! I'm practically on a first name basis with my delivery guy. 10:38am

Ordered a Blue Microphones Yeti USB Microphone (related link) 1:30pm

Hey, I missed the announcement that the Wii will soon do Netflix streaming. Cool! Sure it's a bit of a "me too" but we don't own an XBox360 (the ultimate in irony, I know!) or PS3. (related link) 2:34pm

It's looking like a near certainty that Pres. Obama is coming to Massachusetts to campaign for Martha Coakey. Situation must be critical. 2:58pm

I setup the kids with part 2 of the original "Bionic Woman" pilot while surfing da' webs with Michelle's hackintosh netbook. Now it's time to put them to bed. 7:52pm

The house is quiet. I'm playing with VirtualBox again, this time trying out Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my MacBook. (related link) VirtualBox is such a convenient way to try different operating systems without feeling like you have to be a hard drive partitioning wizard. A few clicks and you're building a virtual machine. When you've had enough, just delete a few files. 9:21pm

Bookmarks I made today:

Sarah Palin Makes a Statement. Again.
Comment: ☞ On the cover again, this time with her daughter and a solidly pro-life message in InTouch magazine. Bound to make some have seizures. ☺ [Hat tip: Danielle Bean]
Excerpt: Well, this is bound to stick in someone’s craw. Pretty much everything Sarah Palin does seems to, so it might as well be a bold pro-life statement that gets her into trouble this time.

S.E. Cupp’s Diary, the first installment
Comment: Conservative author S.E. Cupp, who earlier vowed not to blog, is... blogging. I loved her opening salvo introducing herself to those who've not heard of her.
Excerpt: ... Valuing the sanctity of life, the traditional family, the 2nd Amendment, personal responsibility, low taxes and a limited government puts me at odds with the esteemed cultural taste arbiters of our great nation–like Alec Baldwin and Rosie O’Donnell. I know this, and accept this.

A view of our site as seen on a Palm Pre
Comment: Thanks to my friend Rich Corbett for showing me how things render on the Pre. We were comparing how his site renders on the old Palm "Blazer" mobile browser and mine renders on the new Palm Pre's mobile web browser.
Excerpt: @sbilik Runs great on the webOS Palm Pre browser, but then most sites do.
