Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 09:47 PM

Claire and I are just back from a Step & abs class. I took her for strawberry banana smoothies afterwards. Michelle and I are thinking of taking the kids swimming after lunch. 11:24am

After lunch we took the kids swimming. I got to relax in the hottub near the end of the visit. Ah! On the way back we bought 5 Wendy's Jr. Frostys for the kids and some coffees from A&E Roastery for Michelle and me. 3:08pm

Michelle is driving all the way back to the gym because Abby's guest accidentally left her cell phone there. Ugh! Whatcha gonna do though... 3:09pm

Abby's 1st cat puzzle
Comment: I just noticed that this puzzle Abby did back in Oct 2008 has a cat that looks exactly like Snickers, who was purchased a year later.
Excerpt: This puzzle made her cry because at the end there was one small piece missing...

Google coding tool advances cloud computing
Comment: This hasn't gotten much tech buzz yet outside the techno-leet, but this could be truly revolutionary. End the HTML5/Javascript vs Flash vs Java vs ... battles and let code run sandboxed at near native speeds within the browser. I can almost guarantee the iPhone wouldn't allow it, at least initially.
Excerpt: Native Client, or NaCl, is designed to let browsers run programs at nearly the speeds of those compiled to run natively on a computer system. It's fast enough to handle tasks such as video decompression and first-person shooter video games, and it's designed to handle adjusted versions of existing s...

Netflix: Anna Karenina
Comment: This week I watched yet another BBC/PBS TV miniseries of Anna, which I just finished. Whereas the last one I watched was done in '77 and ~10 hours long, this one was done in 2000 and is "only" ~4 hours. It's a little less stuffy, but had to skim through Tolstoy's tome even faster.
Excerpt: Adapted from Russian author Leo Tolstoy's novel, this drama centers on Anna Karenina, a lonely woman married to a cold-hearted man, Alexi Karenin. To help her brother deal with his failing marriage, Anna leaves St. Petersburg and heads to Moscow, where she meets the dashing Count Vronsky. The pair f...

Milford pollution site runs 400 feet deep
Comment: It goes on to say "The good news is that the agency’s sampling of wells of several homes on North River Road and Cortland Road shows their wells are clean, she said." We were one of the homes tests this past year and the tests did come back clean. We're just a half mile northwest of this site.
