Short Updates

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! I dropped the girls off at school. Michelle's on her way to teach her intermediate Step & abs class. I'll be VPN'd into work for most of the day. It's a gorgeous sunny & 67°F morning here in the Souhegan Valley, but the pollen is up at 9.6 with it climbing to 11.5 on Wednesday. Ah-chu! 8:22am

Back from a fruitful meeting with my spiritual director. It's 85°F, sunny, and dry. I saw a huge percentage of convertibles, motorcycles, and jeeps en route. Who knew Granite State'rs had these beauties hidden in their garages?! grin. 2:34pm

Back from a good Step Circuit class. The nice thing about when it warms up like this (~ 85°F) is that they have to run some A/C and it dries out the air in the fitness studio. You sweat, but you don't feel utterly drenched. 6:59pm

My work laptop has a popular variant of Linux called Linux Mint on a small partition of its hard drive. Version 9 came out last week. I kicked off the update. It'll probably finish long after I'm asleep. Good night all. 8:53pm

Bookmarks I made today:

Earth will bite us back, warns actor Jeremy Irons
Comment: It says, "Irons, who owns 7 houses, including a castle in Co Cork, Ireland, believes a new economic vision is needed". Excuse me?! *SEVEN* houses?! As in one for every person in my one house? Mental circuit breaker go POP! Sustainable. "You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."
Excerpt: The world is becoming so overpopulated that nature will one day wreak its revenge, claims Jeremy Irons. Launching himself as a green campaigner, Irons has revealed plans to make a documentary about sustainability and waste disposal, likening himself to Michael Moore

Hackers Can Delete Facebook Friends, Thanks to Flaw
Comment: Hopefully Facebook hurries up and fixes the security hole.
Excerpt: The security researcher is not going to release the code used in his attack until after Facebook fixes the flaw, but he says that technically competent hackers could figure out how to pull off the attack.

The new Hotmail gives Gmail a run for its money
Comment: This will be good news for my father, who's been a long time Hotmail user.
Excerpt: I've been using a pre-release version of the service for a couple of weeks now, and I'm a huge fan. The new Hotmail is fast, well-designed, and adds a host of features that bring it up to par with other e-mail services, including Gmail. Indeed, it has several features that I wish Gmail included.
