Happy New Year!!

Posted by Scott at 08:46 PM

Good morning and Happy New Year! It's supposed to be sunny and ~50°F here in Milford, NH. Is this really New England? sigh It won't last.. 6:12am

I've been on FastMail for a few years now but today decided to try their IM chat server. It uses the open source Jabber protocol for IM'ing. That's the same protocol under the hood of Google Talk, if you've seen or used that. The good/bad thing is that my IM address is the same as my personal email address. Not sure that I'll use it much, as I'm not much of an IM guy. Heck, I'm not much of a text'ing guy. But just to test it out, I connected my FastMail chat account to my Google chat account persona and passed a few messages back and forth. See the screen capture below for an example... 7:12am

Just deleted my Delicious account. Thanks for the service Yahoo. Wish you'd done more with it. 8:09am

Hackers crack open GSM mobile network. It used to take £30,000 worth of electronic equipment. Now it merely takes a cheap £9 phone. 9:16am

Just read about JParallax. What a cute web hack! See demo at that page or here or here and use your mouse to hover over the images. 9:35am

Current conditions in Milford, NH - I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't experienced it first hand... 1:02pm

I took Michelle and the boys out for lunch at Cafe on the Oval. The boys insisted we not sit at a table but sit up at the counter. 1:06pm

Wiki link for The Impossible PlanetMichelle, the boys and I watched a scary two part Doctor Who: The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit. It always seems that these two-part stories get pretty intense and that was the case here. 3:39pm

After dinner Timothy and I did more research on flash cards for the Nintendo DSLite. We decided to go with the Acekard 2i. If all goes as planned, I should be able to put all of our game titles on it and Timothy shouldn't need to swap cartridges. If that works I'll buy two more for the twins. Hopefully then there'll be less fighting, swapping, and losing games. 6:09pm

Humor: What's your New Years resolution? 6:24pm

I was scrolling through movies and saw "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" (1964). I smiled and asked Michelle if she was in the mood for another 'campy-fest' like last night. She said "Nah, That's okay." I guess watching "Isis" yesterday was enough. ;-] 6:42pm

Via KateOH: BTW, the Rose Parade float that won the award for best depiction of life in California broke down and had to be towed. Perfect. 7:08pm

Reading about and installing mcabber, 'cause that's just the sort of dork I am. 7:23pm

Good the boys tucked into bed with their prayers. Had to do a minor bit of adjustments to the web site because of crossing into a new year. 8:30pm
