Snow Day

Posted by Scott at 09:06 PM

Good morning! Need something to start your day? How about a video of Cats dropped in weightless environments loosing their ability to land on their feet. Glad I wasn't sipping coffee at the moment. Due to half a foot of snow expected today, I'll be working from home. The kids already had today off as a teacher training day. 6:59am

Yeah, my phone's podcasting client -- DoggCatcher -- seems to allow for streaming a podcast rather than waiting for it to download before you listen. I think I tried it once before but it was buggy back then. Ever since I got DoggCatcher last summer, my use of iTunes has approached zero. No more using iTunes and then sync'ing the phone to iTunes. The phone manages all podcast subscriptions directly, downloading over WiFi or 3G networks straight to the phone's storage. 9:32am

See a YouTube video of the official trailerBeen a white afternoon. After lunch I went out with the snowblower because the Doppler gave me the (false) impression that it would lighten up soon. It didn't really, but I'll go out again soon. Abby had three girl friends come over and they played outside for a while and now they're playing “Just Dance” on the Wii. It's been funny hearing that music in the background while I debug GPU shader threads. Meanwhile Timothy and Michelle are on the iMacs at the WebKinz site. 4:15pm

Really proud of Milford plowing today. I think this is the fourth time I've seen them come down our street today. Granted, that means I have more cleanup to do at the mouth of the driveway, but the streets don't get cleared by secret elves at night. 4:52pm

After dinner did one last snow cleanup. It went quickly as there was less than an inch since lunch time. The consistency was very different though. The snow was much more... um... crystalline? It sounded like I was snow blowing rock salt or sand. When I got showered up afterwards, I wrapped up my work day and reminded my San Diego peers that I'd be off tomorrow. Things are a bit quieter around the house now that all the girls' friends are back home. No more Wii jamming songs from "Just Dance". Just the noise of the dishwasher and the wood stove. I'm enjoying some hot tea, catching up, and thinking about what I'll do during idle times at Nashua Oncology tomorrow. Perhaps I'll bring the material I need to prep for tomorrow night's RCIA... 7:36pm

A new poll shows only 15% of Americans think "heated political rhetoric" had anything to do with the killings in Tucson. This has the staff at MSNBC ready to kill somebody! ;-p 8:12pm
