Ruby is back home

Interesting... Facebook was the top blacklisted site and the #2 whitelisted site at OpenDNS. See their report. There's other interesting data about related trends as well. 5:59am

Just checked on my skid plate order. FedEx says it arrived in NH early this morning. Hopefully it gets to my mechanic today. They're supposed to be putting the new oil pan on today and see how things look. I'd like it if they could put the skid plate on soon afterward. (related link) 6:12am

Dropped the girls off at their schools and head into the office. The commute came to a crawl near Littleton, MA. There must've been some accident on Rt.119. I listened to more of my audio book most of the way.Today's chapters: socialized health care. I also called my dad to check on news from River Grove and about my mom's health. Less than one week until my sister stops being a FL resident. 8:58am

Forgot to mention: yesterday Michelle had a routine scheduled MUGA scan. While official word will come from Michelle's oncologist at the next visit, early estimates seem to indicate that things are fine and that the year of Herceptin treatments (used to fight cancer) did no heart damage. 9:03am

Here is an example of why it is difficult for me to like Blackstone Audiobooks, despite their good selection. A newly narrated rendition of "Pride and Prejudice" -- All three media types: ~$30. The exact same book by the same narrator on Audible.com: ~$10 for members. One pays 3x the cost for DRM-free CDs and tapes. 9:16am

Have you seen HP's new WebOS "Touchpad"? Pretty hot specs. Dual-core at 1.2GHz. Oh, it's a SnapDragon. Of course! ;-) 10:18am

AT&T announces its new 'Unlimited Mobile to Any Mobile' plan. Meanwhile Sprint customers smile and say, "hey AT&T, welcome to the club!" In the cellular congested San Francisco area AT&T could've offered unlimited mobile years ago and it wouldn't have helped things. It'd be like offering free dropped calls. 2:01pm

Got a call from the mechanic so left work a bit early. Dropped the rental off and they brought me over to the mechanic. Since I shut my car down as soon as the oil pressure dropped, it appears that the damage is minimal. My car is back and a bit tougher now with its new aftermarket skid plate installed on the undercarriage. 5:50pm

Also forgot to mention, I finished my audiobook as I was on my final stretch. It was pretty good, but then I tend to like analyses of economic ideas and the tradeoffs therein. 6:03pm

Wrapped up the evening by getting back into Doctor Who episodes from season 2. Tonight we watched "Fear Her". All that's left now is the two part season finale, which I'm hoping we can do this weekend. 6:03pm
