ICU

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Good morning! Mom stayed overnight at the hospital for more monitoring and dad came back home late last night. Last night I finished listening to "The Diamond Age" on the way back from the hospital. This morning I'm going to burn the first half of "Reamde" onto an MP3-CD for my car. Man! It's huge! It's over 38 hours long. It's about 6 hours longer than the author's last book "Anathem" and I thought that took work to get through. 6:03am

I dropped the girls off at their schools and head down to Boxborough. I offered up the Joyful Mysteries for Michelle's future scans and for mom's health. I then started the first half hour of "Reamde". 9:36am

Today's a big day at the office because the QC executive vice president/COO Steven Mollenkopf is on site and will speak to us this afternoon. This is his first time visiting the site. 9:40am

Just when I thought there was a possibility that mom would be released tonight, I get word that overnight she developed pneumonia. I just want to get her back to her own doctors back in Chicago/Loyola ASAP. I trust our local health care here. Michelle used it extensively. But there's nothing like being back with the folks who have your whole history. 11:07am

Got word from Michelle after lunch that mom is in ICU with a rapid response team. Her heart rate and blood pressure are falling. Michelle is with my dad for the next few hours. 1:55pm

Left work around 5:30 and head straight up to the hospital to meet up with dad and see how mom was doing. Not good. Michelle joined me soon thereafter. We stayed until visitor hours ended at 8 o'clock. Dad stayed overnight and Michelle and I went to Nathaniel's for a late dinner. 9:14pm
