Good morning! Back from 7 o'clock Mass. Claire and Timothy served and I lectored. We had to drop Claire off at Subway afterwards and the rest of us went for breakfast at DFE.
Went outside with Michelle and the kids to play in the snow and do a little roof raking. The consistency of the snow is great for sledding today. There are some snapshots below.
Strange confluence of events. I was reading a wiki dedicated to text editors founded by the guy who roomed next to me in college. I was reminiscing about Blackbeard. At the same time Timothy was trying out DosBox and needed a program to try. So I got to see BlackBeard again for the first time since 1989! It was my main text editor near the end of my undergrad days because it was small enough not to consume a whole floppy disk, (yes, floppy disks!) yet powerful enough for doing my reports and code.
Forgot to mention that late this morning I bought an old HP-28S calculator with a bunch o' manuals from eBay. Claire is outgrowing her TI calculator with needs for graphing, matrices, etc.
Besides hunting for old HP-28S manuals today, I also spent considerable time trying to figure out why pause/rewind/etc wasn't working on the upstairs TiVo. It was working yesterday. I ran several diags and accidentally tripped on the reason: the Visa connected to our account had expired. Once updated, things worked fine. Very counter-intuitive.
Watched season 1, episode 3 of Downton Abbey via Netflix.
Took the family to Amigos for a dinner in honor of Michael and Daniel's 11th birthday. The Kucmas' joined us there. Afterwards we had cake and ice cream back at the house. 11? *sigh* This seems like just yesterday…
“Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God:
‘This is the time of fulfillment.
The kingdom of God is at hand.
Repent, and believe in the gospel.’ ” — Mark 1
