Pi Day

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Pi Day Good morning! Happy Pi Day! (3/14) I dropped the girls off at their schools and stopped by Cafe on the Oval for a hearty breakfast. I listened to EWTN on the drive in. It was a dreary drizzly commute. When I got in I remembered that today our office bookshelves were delivered. Time to reallocate the books and magazines. 9:33am

Via @iowahawkblog: “Why do Catholics kneel in the produce aisle? Lettuce spray.” 10:15am

Via @tjic: “How many leftists support an advertiser boycott of Limbaugh, but think that the Hollywood blacklist of pro-Stalinists was evil?” In both cases opponents chose not to financially support those whose ideas they strongly disagreed with, whether with hiring or going after their revenue stream. Many actors did sympathize with Stalin back at that time. Limbaugh does think that someone demanding you pay for their birth control appears sleazy. 10:28am

Raquel Welch: the ‘era of porn’ has ‘annihilated’ men, our “sex-saturated culture had sapped the meaning out of sex.” 11:17am

Much like yesterday, the morning rain turned into a sunny lunchtime, but with temps only ~57°F. Because of the big breakfast, I just chose the salad special. Back to debugging... 1:10pm

I am far from an iPhone fanboy, but a class action suit says Apple’s Siri doesn’t live up to hype. Can you say over-lawyered? Is is any wonder that paper coffee cups come with silly disclaimers about the coffee being hot? 1:17pm

Dante's "Divine Comedy" considered 'offensive and should be banned' (story link) 1:37pm

Left work a smidge early to take a six o'clock conference call at home. Listened to Kresta in the Afternoon on the drive north. Episode summary. 6:46pm

Watched an episode of "Family Matters" with the kids that I'd not seen before. "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Urkel" I thought I'd seen them all back in the days when Claire was going through them as a little girl. In an "It's a Wonderful Life" manner, Steve Urkel and Laura Winslow swap lives. Steve was suave and Laura was a nerd. Hillarious acting as they reversed roles. 8:22pm

Since Tim was interested in the Go programming language promoted by Google, I helped him install it on his Linux laptop and ran a quick demo for him. It reminded me to make sure my MacBook install is up to date and see what's been going on with Go. (pun intended) 9:00pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Planning on working from home tomorrow. Good night all! 9:27pm

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.”
