Good morning! Michelle started her daily doses of Xeloda again for the week. We did the math on those pills. She takes them morning and evening for a week. Each time the dose is roughly $100, give or take. We joke that it might be cheaper to eat gold. Luckily my employer has excellent coverage, unlike some of my previous jobs where the copays could be significantly more.
Claire left for Subway. She has the 8 to 3 shift today. The rest of us just got back from our usual Sunday breakfast at DFE. Some days I don't think the boys get the social aspects of eating out. They want to go in, snarf down a donut and breakfast sandwich, and leave. The idea of sitting there relaxed, perhaps enjoying sipping your drink, and (gasp!) talking seems to escape them. But heaven forbid if you eat at a restaurant without 'em!
Timothy is showing Maria the Khan Academy web site and how he's learned more advanced math with their help.
In picking up yesterday's mail we got notice that Daniel's tests for Lyme disease came back negative. We still have to watch for any signs of it. Hopefully Daniel can leave the little scab alone. It can be hard to tell whether he's just picking at it, or there's a serious infection.
It's been a nice afternoon outside. And Claire got out of work early! Unfortunately it isn't quite yet a "pool day". We hear that it'll be in the 90's in a few days, but it's hard to be eager to use a just-opened pool when it only hit 73°F today, knowing that they don't heat that water.
I did some prototyping with the Jekyll weblog engine today. Because this site is 11 1/2 years old, it has many entries... over 2700 of them. From what I've seen Jekyll doesn't seem to handle incremental builds very well. I imported this site's content and it sent the laptop into the weeds building. That isn't uncommon for web tools that generate static content. Then I tried changing one entry. Again... into the weeds for several minutes. By comparison when I aggregate my mini-posts into one daily entry like this one, it takes about 5 seconds for the site rebuild locally. I can preview everything locally on my laptop first. Then when I'm happy with it, it takes about 15-20 seconds to sync the changes up to the two providers (one main and one backup) that host the site. Not bad for software from 2004.
Had a pretty quiet afternoon. Our neighbor's son came over to play with our boys. Michelle and Maria made an excellent dinner on the grill. I got to enjoy reading a real paper paper, NCRegister, as well as my Kindle Fire. I was happy to find that early reviews of Pixar's "Brave" are looking promising. We've been wanting to see it when it arrives in the theaters. I tried to take Claire to our quiet parking lot for more stick shift driving practice, but shortly after we got there, a few skater boys showed up. Not wanting to hit them or embarrass herself, we left and went back home.
Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. I'm about to do the same... Good night all!
