Goodbye Maria

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Yawn! Good morning! I just heard my Jetta backing out the driveway. Michelle and Maria got up early so that Michelle could drive Maria to the airport. Those weeks with her company just flew by, but I'm sure her family misses her and will be eager to see her step off that plane. 5:27am

Michelle is already back from dropping Maria off. As I would expect, she's a bit sad. Still... they had a few great weeks together. It really turned her morale around and the kids enjoyed their time with her too. 6:42am

I dropped Claire off at Subways and swung by the ATM. I picked up the rest of the family and we went to the 8:45 Mass. We had a guest priest from Holy Cross College celebrating the Mass. Afterwards I took the family for breakfast at DFE. Michelle is about to give the boys fresh haircuts. 10:39am

As I was looking up Holy Cross College, on the front page they had a name I recognized: Joyce O’Shaughnessy. While she wasn't Michelle's oncologist during the clinical trial, she was fundamental at developing the particular protocol being tested. 10:41am

I picked Claire up from Subway. I also picked up a pair of iced coffees on the way back to the pool. Abby is a bit happier because one of her best friends arrived at the pool. 2:57pm

At 4 o'clock we started getting things together to head back home. And just as Abby was about to give us a difficult time and ask to stay longer with her friends, the staff closed the pool. Keyes Field had lost power a while earlier and the pool had gone too long without the pumps and filters running. Suddenly there was a mass exodus. 4:38pm

Merida Just ordered our meals at Chunkys. About to see Pixar's "Brave". 6:31pm

Back home from the theater. I really liked the movie. Good story, well told, and beautifully rendered scenes. (spoken like a 3D graphics guy) It was our first time at Chunkys in quite some time and it only reenforced Michelle's thoughts that it's better to eat elsewhere and go to a regular theater. The food there is just too expensive for what you get and the screens are too small. 8:56pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Was trying to watch a YouTube video and getting inconsistent data transfers causing pauses during playback. Rebooted both the modem and router. Still no luck. Went elsewhere to download the Big Bang Theory season finale in HD. THAT transferred at a solid 2 megabytes/second. Must be YouTube/Google and not Comcast. Good night all! 10:13pm

‘What, then, will this child be?’
For surely the hand of the Lord was with him.”
