Subway Thief Caught

Posted by Scott at 09:09 PM

Oh, You ran a marathon? How heavy was the sled? Good morning! Yesterday was a bit borderline to be running without A/C. Today we are sealing up the house and kicking it back on. It'll be upper 80's and low 90's the next few days. Michelle is taking Claire and the boys to the beach at Greenfield State Park today. It's not quite as nice as Sunapee, but significantly closer to drive to. 9:00am

Michelle made us some nice veggie drinks before I head out. I had a smooth drive in, just listening to a couple of podcasts and stopped at DD for an iced coffee. We still have our "heavy hitters" visiting the office today, doing planning for upcoming developments. I have more tests to write and debug… I've been considering a role change that has been offered to me by the head of Qualcomm graphics. 9:02am

News is abuzz with Mitt's meeting with the NAACP. I think it can best be summarized with the following tweet: “Mitt Romney's appearance before the NAACP has alienated and offended an entire class of people who were never voting for Mitt Romney.” 9:55am

I know yesterday I raved a bit about GnuScreen and tmux. Here's an example video, (4 min) showing what was possible on a humble terminal in the days before our modern window managers. When I started my second assignment in the USAF, it was months before I got a graphical workstation and so I got pretty good at this sort of thing to facilitate multi-tasking on unix within one terminal window. 10:30am

But, but, but...They're doing all the changes we're told the Church needs! Married priests, women clergy, openly gay bishops, same sex union blessings, mocking the Incarnation and the Trinity… Why is the Episcopal Church near collapse? 12:57pm

Yesterday on Twitter it was #1stWorldCatholicProblems. Today it's #WhyIAmNotPope. Always good to be able to laugh at yourself. Thanks guys! 1:07pm

Looks like they caught & arrested the guy who held up the Milford Subway about half an hour before Claire's shift back on June 13th. (related news story) 5:14pm

Just got of the phone with Michelle. As planned she and Claire did take the advanced Step class at Golds this morning. Later they took the boys to the beach/lake at Greenfield State Park. They had a good time for both. 5:15pm

Wow! Digg.com, once a hot internet property, was just bought for a mere $½ million. (related link) How quickly they fall... Less than six years ago it was estimated at $60 million. 5:19pm

I'm getting really annoyed at targeted Internet marketing. Yes I covet a new VW Beetle. Please stop taunting me at every web site I visit. My friend and former roommate says it beats getting non-targeted ads for feminine hygiene products, but those don't tempt me like car ads do. 5:21pm

Left work later than I expected. Listened to a couple of podcasts on the drive home. It was pretty hot out the whole way and I had the A/C workin' to keep the car cool. I was surprised that when I got home, Claire had already fallen asleep. I guess between the morning workout and the day at the Greenfield beach, she was wiped out. 7:32pm

After dinner Timothy watched as I tried in vain to setup Bluetooth Dial Up Networking (DUN) on Michelle's netbook. When we went to FL last spring, I knew the house had WiFi. So I traveled light and just brought the lil' netbook and my Kindle Fire. When we go on our summer vacation, there's no WiFi at the house and I was hoping to tether my phone to the netbook. Looks like I'll be bringing my MacBook instead. Tethering it to my phone usually works well, at least the last time I tried… 8:04pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Now to just review today's readings and commentaries and get some sleep. Good night all! 9:06pm

“As you go, make this proclamation:
