Back to Work

Posted by Scott at 10:26 PM

Good morning! Vacation is now officially over. Time to get out of bed and get ready for work. Looks like another nice day today: sunny and 82°F. 6:15am

Stopped by DFE for a coffee and donut. Then decided my car could really use a carwash, as its probably been a month or more. Smooth commute down to Boxborough. Decided to take Rt. 122 for its hilly, curvy roads. After 16 hours of driving I-90, I needed some variety. 9:16am

Nothin' like doing a 'p4 sync' after being away for 10 days. Watch the cooling fans go into overdrive during a codebase rebuild. Maybe even laptop levitation? Like a hovercraft? 9:23am

“Compared to what everyone else is shipping in Android based tablets/smartphones however, Adreno 320 (what my graphics team has been working on) is easily the new king of the hill.” (related quote) 11:06am

Spoke with Michelle. She's had a good day with the boys. The groceries are all re-stocked. The van is washed and now has its new family stick figure decals on the rear side windows. She took the boys to the Milford pool later in the afternoon. She's concerned because Claire's connection flight hasn't arrived. 4:34pm

Been watching the flight tracking websites. Claire's connection flight was delayed in arrival to Baltimore and her departure time for Manchester has been moving all over the placeā€¦ 6:04pm

Wrapped up work around 6:45 and head to Manchester Airport. It was my first time using the new airport exit on the Everett Turnpike. Claire called me just as I was shutting my car off in the airport parking lot. Perfect timing. 7:45pm

I was in the airport for about two minutes before we head back out with her luggage. We stopped for a bite at the Manchester McDonalds on Brown Ave. Claire had so many things to tell me about her week away. She was also happy to see mild, dry weather again after a week in South Carolina, as pretty as it was. As my dad likes to say, “Sure it's hot, but at least it's humid!” 8:21pm

When we got home Claire talked with Michelle for almost an hour. I got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. I showed her a few of my Michigan snapshots and later we laughed at the various "embarrassment" albums that Uncle Tom likes to post on Facebook. Good night all! 10:23pm

“Just as weeds are collected and burned up with fire,
so will it be at the end of the age.”
Matthew 13

“There is no other subject on which the average mind is so much confused as the subject of tolerance and intolerance. Tolerance is always supposed to be desirable because it is taken to be synonymous with broadmindedness. Intolerance is always supposed to be undesirable, because it is taken to be synonymous with narrow-mindedness. This is not true, for tolerance and intolerance apply to two totally different things. Tolerance applies only to persons, but never to principles. Intolerance applies only to principles, but never to persons. We must be tolerant to persons because they are human; we must be intolerant about principles because they are divine. We must be tolerant to the erring, because ignorance may have led them astray; but we must be intolerant to the error, because Truth is not our making, but God's.” — Fulton J. Sheen, 1931, ‘The Curse of Broadmindedness’
