Feast of the Assumption

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Click to enlargeGood morning! It's a rainy one here on this Feast of the Assumption. Michelle and I went to morning Mass on this special holy day. From there she took the van for a change of oil, steering fluid, and its 3rd brake light. I head into the office listening to yesterday's Tech News Today #564. As I got in I remembered that I forgot about packing a gym bag — a side effect of rushing for Mass, I guess. 9:10am

Snarkasm: Hipsters stunned as vintage cameras fail to make them professional photographers. There's also some Instragram joke potential in there too I'd imagine… 9:37am

Michelle took the kids to the school. This year the school is giving an option to fill out all of that Day One paperwork in advance in a more consolidated way. Hopefully in a couple of weeks the first day of school will go better this way. 11:30pm

Two Henry Ford quotes: 11:53am

  1. "You will find men who want to be carried on the shoulders of others, who think that the world owes them a living. They don't seem to see that we must all lift together and pull together."
  2. "As long as we look to legislation to cure poverty or to abolish special privilege we are going to see poverty spread and special privilege grow."

OMG! Oh…Em…Gee! Pinterest released for Android! Pinterest released for Android! I mean... «grunt» How 'bout dem Boston Patriots. 1:50pm

How to Dual Boot Linux on Your Mac and Take Back Your Powerhouse Apple Hardware. Tempted. I'd need a bigger hard drive as mine is pretty full. Luckily space is cheap if I wanted. 2:46pm

Via Doc_0: “If the Family Research Council shooter really mentioned Chick-fil-A, the media is going to will him out of existence. He'll just vaporize.” 3:50pm

More hard hitting, in-depth analysis from the New York Times... Embracing the Right Fit (analyzing Paul Ryan's fashion sense) Why is the New York Times hemorrhaging money?! 6:05pm

Saying a small prayer for Jimmy Akin. (read why) As a coder, it's something I've often feared... Hope the eye surgery works. 6:08pm

Didn't get out of the office until 7:10. Ugh! Listened to a podcast the drive home. Michelle had just brought Claire and Abby home from Golds. It was Abby's 1st time there. I'm glad she's finally taking advantage of her membership. The girls took a Step class and a Pilates/Yoga class afterward. Michelle was with them for the Step class. 8:15pm

I got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Michelle is a bit nervous about seeing her oncologist tomorrow. She's been tolerating her Xeloda well. She's worried her doctor will up the dosage yet again. 9:00pm

Ordered two Amazon Kindle eBooks today. Divine Intimacy - it almost sounds racy, doesn't it? I bought it hardcover a few years ago, but wanted it handy. The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master, a popular book among geeks about the craft of programming was on sale for $2.99 today. It's a huge discount over its usual price. 9:36pm

“A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun,
with the moon under her feet,
and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth.”
