Vacation week - Well, here it is Saturday. Michelle has survived the girls week off from school. Abby had her birthday party Thursday. I don't know how Michelle does it. The volume level in the house…my goodness! I only had to listen to the last hour or two of it. Some of the kids went back home but three stayed over for a sleepover. As you can almost predict with certainty, about 10pm one of the girls came up and cried that she wanted to go back home. *sigh* I'll have a few pictures from Abby's party up soon.
Dinner - My former co-workers Will and Russell came by last night for dinner. Even though we didn't rent a movie or play any video games, we had a nice time talking about cars, gadgets, work, movies, etc. Poor Russell had to explain the death of his Z3 for probably the hundredth time. Still, I consider him very blessed that he walked away from it. A tenth of a second either way and he would be in the hospital or still driving his Z3. The upside of it is he got a new Civic hybrid. While not as eye catching as a red convertible, it appeals to the geeks of us… and he can take passengers. (plural, that is!)
Spring - Spring is definitely here. This weekend we'll use the last bag of the 4 tons of wood we used over the winter season. Those rains from last weekend helped the lawns everywhere to green up again. That pear tree we planted last fall is full of white blossoms. If all goes well we'll take the kids mini-golfing this afternoon and perhaps on a little hike tomorrow. If I'm really motivated, I'll take the twins to the YMCA for some swimming this morning. Michelle wants me to program the sprinklers for a spring schedule. In another week or so it'll be time to resume mowing. And already I've seen mosquitos rearing their annoying heads. Will it be time to start the Mosquito Magnet already?
Ticks - I forgot to mention this earlier. In the two weeks around Easter, kids came in the house 3 times with ticks along their scalps. Yowsers! Michelle has a technique she likes to use when they try to latch on. She smothers them in petroleum jelly. They start to suffocate and release so that you can get them off. It's far less scary than trying to use a hot source.
