Good morning! We woke up on the early side again (and again due to the darn cats) so we watched last night's FlashForward. What an intriguing series this has been!
Did double duty this morning, dropping the girls off at middle school and the boys off at their elementary schools. Michelle is in Merrimack teaching her Hi/Lo aerobics class. I'm VPN'd into work for the day. Of course it's sunny now. Once the weekend arrives and all the kids are home, the remnants of TS Ida will be over us. sigh.
Today we celebrate the feast day of the first US canonized saint - St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. Sadly for me, that name makes me think of Chicago's run down housing: Cabrini Green. It's too bad because she really was a great missionary.
After a long company conference call, I spent some time dialing various places within our health insurance provider, Michelle's wig provider, and SNHMC's oncology billing. All in all, I'm still very happy with our provider's level of coverage, but you like to call "just to make sure". Finally time for some lunch!
It's been a pretty quiet night. The girls have a friend sleeping over. Michelle is watching "The Accidental Husband". (related link) It's a little too "chick-flick" for me so I'm doing a little reading before calling it a night. Yes, Friday night... Good night all!

Qualcomm hopes Snapdragon smartbooks take bite out of Atom
Comment: I've got my fingers crossed, having worked on the graphics engine in SnapDragon. [via Ars Technica]
Excerpt: Qualcomm has revealed that its 1Ghz Snapdragon ARM chip will ship in an upcoming Lenovo smartbook. AT&T has already partnered with Lenovo to sell the product. New smartbook products will bring ARM into the small form-factor laptop market and could give Intel's Atom some serious competition.
Restaurant.com - Deals on neighborhood restaurants. $25 Restaurant Certificates for only $10!
Comment: Just punch in your zip code and find some good deals on gift certificates at local restaurants. I found some good deals in our area. When we're trying to feed seven people at a restaurant, this can help. Just wish there were deals for taking the kids to Chunkys cinema pub...

Woolsey's Threat Against the Bishops
Comment: 2009 vs 1854. The complaint is still the same...
Excerpt: Representative Woolsey is not the first Democrat to object to legislative advocacy by the clergy. Here is another:[...] That was Senator Stephen A. Douglas (D., Ill.), on March 14, 1854. He was talking about an anti-slavery petition.
SPDY: An experimental protocol for a faster web
Comment: Google proposes a new protocol for web infrastructure to speed up content delivery. For a person who barely uses his GMail account, Google has been getting a lot of attention from me lately. "Go" language, "Google Wave", and now "SPDY" protocol.
Excerpt: In lab tests we have compared the performance of these applications over HTTP and SPDY, and have observed up to 64% reductions in page load times in SPDY.
