Wrap It Up

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Yawn! Good morning! Busy day ahead. Today is the end-of-study study. When we agreed to the clinical trial, one thing they asked was that if we stopped early for any reason, that we come back for followup tests. So today Michelle and I head down to Massachusetts General Hospital again. She meets with the oncologist and does a suite of tests. As is often the case, there's a fast required but luckily she had a generous dinner at The Mile Away last night. 5:23am

A later starting time today, so it was 2 hours, 10 minutes door to door. Ugh! Usually I love having a stick shift car. Today was not one of those days. 9:32am

Michelle is done with labs and vitals. Now to meet with the oncologist... 9:58am

Met with the lead oncologist. Had an EKG and a few more vitals. Went for a quick lunch. Now waiting for an echocardiogram... 12:13am

Last test of the day: the CT scan. And yes, including that tasty barium milk shake. Yum! 2:02pm

Even though Michelle was admitted from the waiting room on time (at 2:45pm), she spend a long time waiting after changing and getting her contrast injection. We wrapped up around 4pm. 4:05pm

4pm is among the worst time to leave MGH! It was 2 1/2 hours door to door. It was almost an hour just to get from the parking garage to being on I-93N. How ironic that our last visit would have among the worst traffic we've seen yet among these visits. 6:31pm

Thank you so much Sarah for preparing a dinner last night that the girls could quickly throw in the oven tonight. The scheduling of today's CT scan was uncertain until this morning so we didn't know if we'd be home in time for dinner or not. Since it ended up being scheduled for mid-afternoon, there was no easy way to get home quickly. 6:35pm

Saw this story on Engadget and thought of the handful of inaccuracies. We have been producing good graphics chips that compete well with Imagination and NVIDIA. Eric has been with us for months. And the Qualcomm Adreno team has merged with the ATI Imageon team. Heck, “Adreno” is an anagram of “Radeon”, ATI's flagship graphics processor line. 8:12pm

Interesting Wall Street Journal story about the modern era members of the Catholic Worker Movement in NYC. I remember a few years ago watching a biographical movie about Dorothy Day, co-founder of the movement. It was interesting to read a bit about her philosophical descendants. 8:42pm

Got the boys tucked in bed with their prayers. Gently reminded them of their responsibilities when they get home and mom isn't at home to remind them. The twins were rather lax this afternoon. 8:50pm

Move over Godwin's Law, because these days it's often replaced by Anderson's Law. Godwin's Law is when an argument is devolves into a Hitler analogy. Anderson's Law is when an debate about something in Catholicism takes a detour into a reference to pedophile priests. It happens quite often in online forums. 9:06pm

How can you have over 11,000 godchildren?? Here is one notable way to do it! 9:09pm

Humor: Since my dad is a big fan of beer (as are Christopher, Suzy, Brian, Tom, …) I offer the following: Top 5 Reasons Why Coffee is Better Than Beer. Good night all! 9:13pm

“Jesus prayed saying:
‘I pray not only for these,
but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
so that they may all be one,
as you, Father, are in me and I in you,
that they also may be in us,
that the world may believe that you sent me.’ ”
