End of the Heat Wave

Posted by Scott at 11:59 PM

Getting Adele Good morning! It's supposed to be the last day of our heat wave today. Michelle has a routine blood draw later today just to keep an eye on things. She's also going to substitute teach a Step class at the Merrimack YMCA this morning while her friend Kim is on vacation. 6:35am

I stopped at Cafe on the Oval for a quick sausage Benedict breakfast before heading down to Boxborough. I listened to Al Kresta via podcast from yesterday as he discussed the Chicago police superintendent asserting that their crime rate was due to state sponsored racism. “What Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said at Saint Sabina Church”. In other news my car claims it is 88°F already. Already?! 9:28am

2002 vs 2012: Dude, you're getting Adele! 9:29am

The Amazing Contents of Steve Wozniak’s Travel Backpack. As I think about what to bring to the reunion, I'm thinking: my phone, my Kindle, my MacBook and my lil' Sony pocket camera. Wavering a bit on the Kindle in favor of some "real" (dead tree) books, so it's not exactly space saving. 11:01am

Snarkasm via iowahawkblog: “Just once, would one of you spoiled athletes to thank Government for letting you win the trophy?” 11:53am

Via CSLewisDaily: “Our temptation is to look eagerly for the minimum that will be accepted. We are in fact very like honest but reluctant taxpayers.” What an excellent description of lukewarm Christianity. 12:06pm

I walked over to the cafeteria next door to bring back some lunch. I called Michelle, who had just left "Five Guys" with the kids and was on her way to oncology for her routine blood draw. Man! It is steamy outside. 12:39pm

Terence Corcoran: Not wealthy enough to gloat. This week Canadians have been gloating that their more socialist tendencies have made them more prosperous than their U.S. counterparts. 1:19pm

It's Jennifer Willits Appreciation Day on Sirius/XM 129. Good luck Jennifer! And good luck to Greg as he hosts the show solo starting tomorrow! 1:26pm

Mashing up two political memes: At 42, Julia starts her own web business. Under President Obama, “she didn't build that”. 1:59pm

Left work around 6 o'clock. Compared to lunch time the temperature has really fallen. It's around 80°F. I caught up with my dad for a bit and then listened to TWiT #362 the rest of the commute home. 7:00pm

After dinner and folding laundry, I started to fall asleep early, so Michelle is going to get the boys to bed. Good night all! 8:30pm

“At that time Jesus exclaimed:
‘I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.’ ”
Matthew 11
